sunset viewing

Here are some sunset photos i took during my vacation in Bauang, La Union last april 8-15.

April 9, 2007 - we hit the beach around 3pm and left just before sunset. my cousin-in-law who drives a tricycle forgot to go back for us but since my aunt's house is only a short 10-minute walk, we decided to go on foot. so all of us paraded with our wet clothes along a cemented 2-lane road in between vast agricultural lands. i took this photo just after we crossed the national highway.

April 12, 2007 - our major FUN day! we had a beach picnic starting at 10am. we brought food, play cards, guitar, bike and rented a cottage a few steps away from the water's edge. we basked in the sun and played with the waves and the chocolate- colored sand the whole day, kain lang ang pahinga. this time, we waited for the sun to go down and disappear beneath the endless sea. it was perfect: cool breeze, soothing sound of the waves, happy family, painted sky, glorious sunset. wish i could freeze the moment...

April 13, 2007 - Friday the 13th, yeah, but i'm sure even Jason Voorhees and Freddie Krueger and their minions would have stopped to witness the breathtaking sunset before searching for their preys. Beside my aunt's house is a vast private property open to those who wish to climb the 200+ steps leading to the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary grotto. Not only can one pray for Mama Mary's guidance here but also feast on the view of the quiet town and the sea as the day slowly comes to a close.

April 14, 2007 - this was again taken from the grotto as we visited Mama Mary for the last time before leaving for Manila the next day. not as spectacular as the sunset the previous day but nevertheless beautiful as it painted the sky with rich yellow, orange and red hues and covered the whole town with the warm glow of the last of the light.
